Make Yourself A Harry Potter Scarf
It may not be as snowy as it is here now but it would certainly be cool to own a scarf. At that, a Harry Potter scarf. You have seen these being worn by the character Harry Potter himself who had been the main figure in J. K. Rowling’s book. The movie showed this for the first time to us as well. If you would like to make one, read on.
First, get yourself a pair of different colored yarn, duct tape and scissors. You will also need 6-8 pieces of plastic straws. If you are not old enough to hold scissors, you without a doubt should ask your parents to help you make one. Scissors are dangerous tools that need to be handled carefully.
Your choice of color depends on what house in the Harry Potter movie do you wish to imitate. Be able to research first and get photos illustrating the scarves of the characters. List down the colors you see in each model. You may want to take note of other scarves in the series if you decide to have variety in the future.
Now, know how long the length of the by-product you wish to make will be. Let a loose thread from the yarn run across your body to the dangling point that you decide it to end in. Be able to add 4 more inches to the measurement before you cut it. Now cut more pieces of yarn with the same color equal to the number of straws you intend to use. The thickness depends on the number of straws you have.
Insert the strings into the straws and be able to tape them on the side of your straws using the duct tape. Be sure that the tape you use is sticky enough to get stuck. You may have a problem in the future if you do not use a good one.
This portion will now tackle the making of the actual scarf. Now that we have a good note of how wide and thick you want the end result to be, we can now build the actual scarf. You will need a new piece of string from any color of your choice to appear at the end length wise.
You will need to tie this string to one straw that serves as the end. From this straw, run the string alternately under and over the remaining straws. If you reach the end go back to the first straw then repeat the process. Alternately use the two colors of yarn you have and make sections of colors. Based on the photos you may have for reference is also the application of colors for the by-product.
Once done, you have yourself a good looking Harry Potter scarf. You can use this during the winter or when you want to imitate the characters in the movie. Get a robe and a wand and then you can start casting spells. Make scarves as well from different characters for your whole family.
